We are a football trials company based in the UK and we are looking to start something similar in the USA. Is this something that can be done. Or does someone need to live there etc?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Chris
The company is all online, apart from the assessment days we have. We would want to hold assessment days in the USA with american citizens and obviously taking their cash.

I ‘d suspect you’d have to travel over to the USA and look into buying one or a few shops.

More tips: IF your business is offline.

Start with the U.S. Department of Commerce. This should be stop
No. 1, regardless of whether you’re packing your suitcase or staying put. The department can provide a wealth of information, covering such topics as overseas agents and tax ramifications. Even better, it’s gratis.

Spend some time determining just how “different” things will really be. One assumption
that many domestic businesses are too quick to make about
from doing business in a different state. But you have to know what you’re doing or you’re going to waste a lot of time and money.”

Seek out local guidance. Whether it’s an attorney or a banker, make certain that they’re located in the market where you want to set up shop. [who]

you could try getting a website first to see if there is any interest in the usa market.

i got my website from these people

very cheap and very affordable [who]

You can own a company there but without a visa you cannot earn any money in the USA so it rather defeats the object. If you are hoping to work over there it is possible – but difficult to get a visa using your UK business but you will need a good visa attorney over there to advise you.

You can trade in the USA with a UK company but the tax gets complex and the yanks really don’t like foreign companies or paying in anything but $’s.

I did it myself so I know it is possible just takes a long time and a lot of money. [who]

Speak to your local Business Link or Chamber of Commerce. Both run trade missions overseas to help people who want to do business in other countries. They also have information on setting up abroad.

    Good luck! [who]
