USA: What is the approximate amount to be shown by an international student for acquiring a student visa?

I would like to know how much an international student is expected to show as “sufficient funds available for self-support” while applying for a student visa for pursuing an undergraduate degree in the USA.

Sufficient funds is a broad term that is open to interpretation by US Immigration and you will not get an exact answer. This means you have enough funds to support yourself during your education and you will not need support from the US government to help you. Sufficient funds can include but limited to things such as:
1) Having enough money to pay for health insurance
money to cover books
2) Having enough money to pay for medical care not covered by insurance
3) Money for food
4) Money for accommodation
5) paying for utilities for you are not living on campus or your school requires that you pay for utilities.
6) transport costs
7) money to return home if needed
9) money to pay for tuition as financial aid is not available to international students
10) money to cover other educational related expenses
11) miscellaneous expenses
If you cannot demonstrate that you have enough money to pay for your schooling and living expenses then there is very little chance you will get your student visa approved. [who]
